squealing

Hi..A squealing noise can be heard from my engine (Ford Escort 1600 lx 16v Zetec 1995) when starting from cold...After a while the squeal goes away...I have had the fan belt replaced...Does anyone know what this could be or had the same problem and had it corrected ? Thanks

i had a similar sound on my 1993 reanault clio 1.2. it was like an additional sound on top of the acceleration sound.my problem turned out to be that the water pump had gone. don't konw if that is your problem.hope it helps,
