1st email from him

Goodday,

I am in receipt of your mail, Inview of your response, I had to contact my client that you still have the 2002 Ford Mustang GT for sell, so he has instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier's check of $31,250. The additional $5,250 is to cover for the re-work of the 2002 Ford Mustang GT as specified by the client and cost of home delivery to the client.

The company policy is that the client makes out the total expenses that is incured in delivering of the 2002 Ford Mustang GT as specified by him in one check. So you are required to deduct cost of the 2002 Ford Mustang GT which is $26,000 when payment gets to you and refund balance $5,250 to the work shop and the delivery agent via western union money transfer for him to be able to off-set shipping charges.

After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him, our delivery agent will come pick up the 2002 Ford Mustang GT and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my client, while title papers and other necessary documets will be sent by you via courier to my client.

Confirm this and provide name, address and phone number for check
payment to be delivered to you via courier.

Thanks,and GOD bless,

Thomas Black.

My email reply to him...

Dear Thomas Black,

I will wait until we speak to eachother via telephone
so we can make all the required arrangements. We will
need to coordinate times due to the fact that my work
schedule varies and I need to know where to be and
when. The details you've listed thus far seem to be
fine. What form of payment will the $31,250 be made
in? For my safety, I will require either Bank Issued
or Postal Certified Cashier's Check or Western Union.

It is now 8:33am PST and I will be at work for the
next 5 hours. Thereafter, you can reach me on my
cellular phone. The numbers are listed below.

Thank you for you prompt emails.

Ryan

Another reply from me...

Dear Thomas,

I'm glad to have been able to briefly speak with you,
but I still need to know more details. Please contact
me as soon as you read this email (regardless of the
hour) so that I know what day and time window to
expect the courier to arrive. I am not always at home,
but I can easily make arrangements to be there when
needed.

I still need your telephone number so that we can
finalize the details.

Ryan

4th email from him
(This shady email sealed the deal. I’m gonna mess with him now!!!)

Dear Ryan,
My phone number is 447092027345.
However, I am always on the move in europe since my business involves meeting a lot of people to close buying or selling businesses. But I will constantly be in touch with you through mails. I am presently not on my seat but I will also call you any where I am in europe.

I have been in touch with my client and he said he would dispatch the check to you today. So you should expect it on friday or latest monday. I will get the details from himlater today and mail it to you.

I will also call you later today.
Kind regards,

Thomas Black.

My reply to him...
(Just want him to have some reassurance. hee hee!)

Thomas,

Okay. Definitely keep me posted on the status of the
courier. Since it is only Wednesday, is there any way
that you can get some type of tracking information for
the courier the check is being sent (assuming that it
doesn't arrive until monday). This would serve as
somewhat of a commitment on your client's part and
will allow me to close the current ads and ignore any
of the further inquiries.

I was just curious... Is there any possible way that
your client can send the funds via Western Union or
even by way of a Cashier's Check?

Ryan

another email from me to him...
(want him to feel that i'm eager to do it!!!)

Thomas,
Can you confirm if payment "has" or "has not" been
sent? When it is scheduled to arrive (tracking info?)
and by which method of delivery? I just want to know
when to be home so I can get your re-work/freight fees
back to you asap.
Thanks,
Ryan

5th email from him...

Dear Ryan,

Yes, my client has confirmed to me that the check has been sent to you today.
You should receive it latest tuesday. I will give you further information as soon as I get to my office by weekend.

Regards,

Thomas

Email reply from me...

Thomas,

Okay. I'll just have to take your word for it and hope
it arrives by this coming Tuesday. Until I can get
some type of a courier tracking/confirmation number, I
still have to keep a few appointments to show it today
and over the weekend. Please note that one of the
appointment is from someone who has already
seen/driven the car, but he wants to bring his wife to
see it before he makes a decision.

As of today (Friday, 8/29/03 @ 7:20am), I have two
potential buyers from people who have already met to
see the car once this week. Both have expressed very
serious interest for the same price, but I have
explained that your client may have already sent a
check from the UK.

There is a very good chance that one of these second
appointments will arrive with a cashiers check in hand
or may want to meet me at my bank in order to transfer
funds directly. If you or your client can produce some
type of courier tracking/confirmation number as soon
as possible, I can cancel all further prospective
appointments and consider the car as SOLD to your
client. Until that time and so that I do not loose out
on a potential sale, I will have to consider
everything tentative until the check's actual arrival
or any type of proof that it is in transit.

I realize that you are very busy, but for your
client's sake, let me know the courier co. and any
tracking/confimation number asap. Thanks for your
understanding.

Sincerely,
Ryan

7th email from him...
(He thinks that I’m standing by my mailbox waiting for a fake check)

Dear Ryan,
I am very positive that you will receive the check today. My client informed me that you should receive the check today.

As stated in my previous mails to you, an auto workshop has been appointed to handle the re-fitting and shipment to my client and the name of its agent you should send the money to is as stated below .

So please immediately transfer the balance $5,250 to the agent today so that they can conclude arrangement to begin work. Please send the money to him through
western union money transfer.
MR. BODE ASABOR
AMSTERDAM
THE NETHERLANDS.
I crave your indulgence to have this transaction done this way and swiftly in order for us to conclude this transaction this week because I have already assured my client that he will get the car as soon as possible so please assist and bear with us and make the refund through western union as instructed.

Please be advised that you make the payment through any
local western union money transfer outlet that is close
to you rather than sending it through a bank because it
is a lot easier and cost effective.

Once you have made the refund balance payment, you are to send a copy of the western union transaction receipt to the workshop fax number: 775-703-0140. Also send to me a copy for my records. Or you can just mail to me the western unionmoney transfer control number so that I can confirm and get back to my client.

I will call you an hour from from now.

Regards,
Thomas Black,
CEO/DIRECTOR

email from me...
(gonna start calling his bluff now - Now we’re having fun!!!)

Thomas Black,

I still haven't heard from you regarding the shipping
company details. I'd like to speak with them directly
about arranging the pickup either tomorrow or on
monday.

Sorry I haven't been able to get to the bank yet. It's
been hectic this morning. Since the cashier's check is
drafted from Bank of America, I'll just go to the
local branch in a couple of hours. This should be very
convenient as clearance goes. I will go over there
this afternoon and cash it before depositing it into
my account. I'll be in contact with you via email as
soon as it's complete.

Thanks again,
Ryan

9th email from the stupid butthole...
(Now he's waiting for the Western Union to arrive. KEEP ON WAITIN' DUMMY!!!)

Dear Ryan,

The workshop has to receive the $5,250 from you before they can conclude arrangement to pick up the vehicle.
Please once you cash the check, send the money to the workshop through western union money transfer as per my mail to you yesterday, then send the receipt of payment to the workshop fax number and let me know.
I will be waiting.
Regards,

Thomas Black

Thomas,

All I am asking for is the name, direct telephone
number and mailing address of this company.

11th email from him...
(Gee... this guy's questioning my integrity???)

Dear Ryan,
I dont want to get into the problem of trust with you. If I begin to give you my clients' information, what then will my business be. I am an agent and a broker.

You have all the information you need to do business with me please. Follow the transaction as we agreed earlier. If this is not suitable with you, then please let me know and I will imediately cancel all previous arrangement regarding this transaction.
Regards,

NOTE: Is all this need for information coming because you now have the check? That will be very poor indeed. Or are you looking for a penpal?

Thomas Black.

My email to him...
(Sorry Tommy... but I'm just stalling OOPS I MEAN TOO BUSY TODAY to go to the bank)

Thomas Black,

I still haven't had a chance to make it to the bank
since we last spoke/emailed. Work has been quite
hectic and I haven't had anytime to go do any of the
things I need to do. By the time I'm able to go run my
own errands, the bank is already closed. I'll do
everything I can in order to get away from the office
first thing on monday.

Tell your client that I sincerely apologize and will
have the shipping cost sent asap. Until then, I will
do my best to make the car spotless.

Sorry for the delay. Feel free to call if there are
any changes.

Ryan

RING RING!!!
(Nigeria calling…)

He finally called me to ask me about the status of his Western Union transfer. I made up some story that although it was a Certified Cashier’s Check, the bank manager put a 5-7 day hold on my deposit. He replied back, “Oh, that’s okay.” Knowing this, he still insisted that I Western Union wire transfer the “shipping & re-work fees” even though he knew that my deposit hadn’t cleared (YEAH, RIGHT!!!). REWORK FEES??? What the heck is that???
<This is where I started playing stupid>
“Oh my… I couldn’t do that.” Then I explained the scam that’s going around in full detail as the reasoning why I couldn’t transfer the funds to him (oops… I mean his shipping co.). He was silent for a moment and totally caught off guard. After a few more seconds of silence, I asked him… “You heard about that Nigerian Cashier’s Check scam that’s targeting people selling big ticket items such as boat, antiques, and EVEN CARS over the internet, HAVEN’T YOU???”

The next thing I heard was… “CLICK”

I haven’t heard a peep out if him since.
