Just hope the after service is as good as their prices.
Sadly i've got an engine swap so had a limited choice.

Hi, my son is also with Quinn Direct. His first car and insurance was quite reasonable. 1 year on and he has had his renewal from them and it has almost halved. I may be looking at them myself when my car insurance is due.

Quinn are certainly one of the best, most competitive comapnies when it comes to cost. But its also important to remember to make sure the insurance you get covers you properly. The cheapest isn't always the best, I know this from bitter experience.

Still, nice to see some good reviews for Quinn, definetly one of the better companies out there. ;)

Quinn ??? - I'm not so sure, I thought they were cheap and insured with them - but a month later got a promotion and a company car so sold mine and cancelled policy. I'd paid them £840!! and with 11 months left they gave a refund of £0. I'm sure its in the small print but do you know of any other company so good at ripping people off!!!

I also know someone whose boss was caught for Drink driving - which makes him an idiot, he crashed his £20,000 bmw and although comp cover they refused to payout (small print again) You could say serves his right! - And I would agree, but my point is that every other insurer still pays out - So quinn might be cheap sometimes but you get what you pay for - not sure what other exclusions they have but i bet they do! Perhaps if your going 5 mph over the speed limit your not covered!!!

Beware!!!!

PLEASE DON'T INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!
This company treated me so badly I couldn't believe it. I initially set up insurance for my car with this company on November 1st, costing £427.38. After recapping the details of the cover after the money had been taken out of my account, I realised that it didn't suit my needs. I realise I am partly to blame for this but I was told that it would not be a problem at all to cancel the whole thing and I would have the money back in my account in 3-5 days - try 50 days later!! Was only on the 21st December that I actually received this large sum of money back into my account! This was after I'd threatened them with legal action and got the financial ombudsman involved. I had to spend £15 on calls and god knows how long on hold - even then, the customer services staff I talked to didn't seem to know what was going on, who was dealing with it and on one occaision the person I spoke to was incredibly blunt and didn't once apologise for this huge inconvenience! It was only when very senior staff were involved was I actually given the money back. All in all, I feel this shows that their financial department is a mess and personally, dealing with Quinn Direct was a really horrible experience!

I am too insured by Quinns, however, working in claims I looked through the policy and was a bit shocked at the cover eg. If you have a windscreen claim this does affect your no claims discount - no other insurer that I know of does that.

Here is another little scam that they have introduced.

I insured my 17 year old son with them on a provisional licence 3 months ago. The premium was slightly in excess of £1300.
Snce that time he has passed his test and gone on to do a "pass plus" course. He duly notified Quinn direct, who sent him an e-mail demanding another £650 !! Surely another of their many "administrative errors" we thought.

Telephoned and spoke to them to be told that passing your driving test makes you a higher risk in their eyes and that necessitates an immediate premium increase ! Unbelievable, what did they think they were charging £1300+ for in the first place ?

Asked where in the insurance handbook, contract or "key facts" they stipulate this ? Their answer "you would have been told this when you were origionaly quoted"... Ehh NO ! I think we would have remembered and run a mile !

When eventually put through to a "supervisor" and asked them to put all this in writing, they got very coy and refused to. They said a "manager" would have to call today.....still waiting !

We paid this premium in full when we bought the policy and since then they have telephoned 3 times and written twice to state that the premium has not been paid. They then deducted the full premium ( by credit card) twice ! Every time we rang them to be informed " sorry it is an administrative error".

IF I was you I would give this company a very wide berth and recommend everyone else does the same.

We have spoken with "Direct line" who quote £200 more than we have paid "Quinn", however the coverage seems better ( and more reputable ) and they state they "get a lot of business from disgruntled Quinn customers". I am sure they do !
