I have about £3,000 to spend on a used car. I currently drive an old J reg (1992) VW Golf 1.8 GL.

Some people are telling me to go for something like a Ford Focus - i.e. that I should use my head and go for a sensible, reliable car.

However, I really love the Hyundai Coupe. I can get a 2000 reg 2.0 SE model for around £3,000. It only bumps up my insurance by an extra £60 per year. Apparently it's a reliable car, although probably not on the same level as a Focus in that regards.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Coupe? Does anyone own one? What are people's perceptions of the car? Does the fact it's a Hyundai really matter (I mean, for £3000, beggars can't be choosers)?

Thanks!

Well, I guess you should go with what you want. You're the one going to use the car, so pick something that you'd be comfortable in.

hi, well its down to you pays your money and you take a chance, what are the running costs of both cars, ie tyres, exhaust, and so on, and which car will hold its value more, when did the hy-wotsit first hit the british roads, compared to the ford which has held its money better
