Help! Locks!

Hi

I have a H reg astra and unfortunately i am climbing through the boot to get to the steering wheel which is a little embrassing when i go to wrok (i am a teacher....) Anyhow i need to change the locks and i don;t know how easy it is or how expensive it is? could i do it on my own? do i need mechanics advice and as i am in east london where can i go thats not going to rip me off? Or would i need to change the whole door????

Help is needed and i hope that someone is able to help!!

Who told you that you need new locks and why do you think you need them?

No, you don't need to change the whole door, and yes you can fit new locks yourself.

I suggest the first thing you do is remove the door card and have a good look around there. There wil be three connecting rods in there. One goes from the lock to the door pin, one goes from the lock to the interior door handle, and one rod goes to the exterior handle. It may that the rod connected to the exterior door handle has come adrift.

Try and provide a bit more detailed information of the problem if you can.
