It seems that a scam company previously "trading" as Vehicle Connect have changed their name to Buyers Line Direct with a new "sales" pitch. I was approached by them today on the same telephone number they were using for Vehicle Connect which is 01992 703080. The pitch is that they have got my details from autotrader, and that they are a finance company, they have a few people interested in my car and they will provide them with credit to buy my car. The deal is I pay them £99.00 and once the car is sold the £99 will be refunded to me. A couple of things have raised my suspicions
1. They were very persistant for me to give them my card details, they rang 3 times in 45 minutes. I told them I didnt have £99, so then they asked could I borrow the money!
2. The conditions for a refund were that the person buying my car took a finance agreement from them, but they said I may also see people who woulldn't need credit. So why would people who didn't need finance be going through such a company to find a used car???
So now I have done my research into this company to check their creditability and found out other reports about Vehicle Connect I am very pleased that I have not parted with my cash and will be reporting my findings to the police!
