Advice needed!

I found a used car I really like, for a good price. The car has no service history apart from a receipt for the last full service. The problem is at the mechanic who carried out the service has written an advice note on the receipt saying that the bellhousing may need replacing. The seller claims that when he spoke to the mechanic about it, it wasn't a big issue. Should I steer clear of this car?

If the mechanics said it needs replacing then I guess he knows better. The seller might just want to sell it without him doing the repair. Weigh things.
