Guys, the spare wheel lowering mechanism is goosed on my 2004 VW Sharan and the dealers have quoted me £122 + vat for a replacement. I de rivited the old unit and the problem is that the cable is kinked. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cable or indeed if the units from the Galaxy/Alhambra would fit. Thanks in advance.

Try and look on ebay or around at VW or German car specialists and also yes the units for Galaxy/Alhambra no matter what age MK1 or MK2 they both are exactly same units but the best thing is to buy a new or particularly new unit because they go weong all the time due to being tighted or tampered with so next time when you get your spare wheel tightened do it carefully.

From other spanish forum: one guy used an old Galaxy (first generation) Braket. He says that it fits perfectly and the device is much better.

Good luck :)
