I'm not advertising this, but I have a policy with MoreThan Drivetime insurance and I only pay about £650 a year. The only catches (Not really catches IMO) are: you can't go higher than a 1.4l car, and you aren't encouraged to drive between 11pm-6am otherwise you incur a £25 charge on your premium.
But yeah, young drivers should look into this.
