I bought a Canon EOS Digital Rebel (aka 300D) from 17th Street Photo Supply
(www.17photo.com) and a Nikon Coolpix 995 from Ritz Cameras
(http://www.ritzcamera.com); both were significantly cheaper than the UK and
both came with "universal" (i.e. 110-230V, 50/60Hz) chargers. Converter
plugs from US to UK are available, but its better to buy these in the
States, perhaps in an airport travel shop. With respect to warranty I worked
on the principal that the money saved by buying in the US could pay for a
main dealer repair if necessary.
Cheers
