Well that notwithstanding, if you're on a racetrack mid-corner- especially
on a RH- htf are you going to use the back brake even if you want to? Aren't
the balls of your feet resting nicely on the pegs?

Thumb rear brake ;)
And who said anything about racetracks?
Oh, and one of my bad biking habits is not putting the balls of my feet
on the pegs. I've tried to ride that way before, but it just doesn't
work for me at all. Wore out a pair of boots doing it, too :(

Tenuous at best, and it wasn't me wot said it, but cheers for taking the
time :)

No. Crap foot placement [1]
[1] on the peg I mean, rather than me having, say, a foot on my elbow

I didn't say you did. I'm not sure how we've got from accepting that the
back brake is **** to suddenly agreeing with Veggie that's it's amazing.

heh.
I'm just going with the flow ... these days you seem stroppier than me
.... I'm not entirely sure which one of us should be more concerned.
<thinks>
On balance, you :)
PS. I very rarely use the rear brake at all, unless it's raining [1]
[1] just restating our position and changing tack slightly ... should
throw the hounds off the scent for a while, giving you, as the brains of
the operation, time to come up with a killer put-down for the rear
brake-isti

Aah...once again accusations from you of being stroppy just because I'm not
making jokes. You know how much I love *that*, keep it up. FYI I would have
very little reason to be stroppy since I'm going snowboarding tomorrow, I've
got a new DAW on the way and I've just been told how much my tax refund is
this year which is probably going to pay for some racing action (or some
home improvements is it goes that way instead). Eat that!

Heh, don't think I need to really. Just bolstering Mr Sterry's corner as
he's taking some unjustified flak imo.

I'm looking at Ducati monsters atm. Cheap (relatively) and cheerful.

Er...I don't think anyone said it would.

By one of those strange coincidences, Doohan found that when he went
to using a thumb rear brake (cos his wrecked right leg couldn't work
the peddle), he had more control, and used it more, especially on
right handers. Subsequently, plenty of able-bodied racers have gone
to using thumb brakes for the same reason.
However, I don't *really* unerstand how braking the rear is going to
help - I don't see much a difference between it and rolling the
throttle. I think the guys who use the rear brake mid-corner are in
the top 0.01% of racers.
