when we start up car in the morning or if it hasent been running for a while there is a loud squealing noise coming from engine what could this be and is it expensive to fix

it's probably just your fan belt a bit loose! Could be the water pump? but that would tend to squeal all the time. Just check the fan belt tension. Piece of piss to fix! lol..
