View Full Version : R1 Problem

Vass

Bike seems to be sluggish on pickup in the higher revs after a long
stint on the road

It feels a bit like the bikes about to go to reserve and needs the tap
turning
but as the R1 does'nt have this, its another problem

Starts fine and pickup from low revs all normal, its just this strange
sluggish almost misfire type feeling after doing 60 miles at a constant
speed

Service is well overdue mind (14k should have been done at 12 me thinks)
suppose this needs doing anyway but will it fix the prob ?

Any ideas ?

nah, that's OK, the R1 is fuel injected, so you only have to
euphemistically **** in the carbs.

Tight valvegear? Exup valve siezed? Crud in the fuel? Worn out spark
plugs?

That usually happens when the fuel cap isn't venting properly. Find the vent
hole and make sure it's not blocked.

Will take a look tonight, thanks

Would the exup valve be suffering from the occasional 'BANG' brought about
by
my (ahem) accedently hitting the kill switch while decelerating ?

Partially seized EXUP valve? Isn't 60mph in top about the point where
the EXUP starts to open?
