Same day, same court;
Off duty policeman caught at 136mph in his Subaru ... fined #500 and
banned for a year. Bloke on a bike caught at 145mph ... fined #5000
and banned for 2 years!

From the moment he overtook at 9 mph more, his fate was sealed.

So £340 (inc costs) and 6 points is not toooooo bad for 101.5 in a 70
and no trip to court(1)

1. This part was a result as I did not have to listen to some
sanctimonious prat saying "If your licence is so important to you then
you should be more careful!" Despite driving/riding 35,00 miles per year
for 14 years without a conviction.

Maybe the wannabe arresting officers always thought 'Aw, after that smash,
what's the point'? ;-)

I could get better.
From today's news you only get a suspended sentence for trying to steal
a whole country[1] so speeding at 145mph should make you eligible for a
Mediterranean Cruse.

Perk of the job etc.

I get to 'aquire' engineering **** for worthy causes, he get's
preferential treatment when he gets done for speeding. Personally
I'd say that the downsides of being plod far outweigh the one or two
plus points.
