my cheque cleared [Archive]

My cheque recieved from a scammer actually cleared ( I'm in the UK) so what do i do now? Will the bank let me keep the money? It's not my fault they have cleared the cheque! lol.. the bloke must be trying to scam me because it's the same format as the other scams, cheque for more than the price of the car, and then send the balance back.

Going to stall him and see what happens. I won't send any money, if he wants the car and the balance, he can come for it himself! lol...

I just logged on again and found your message. The cheque I was given by this bloke did clear, and stayed clear for a couple of days, then it was withdrawn! I could have withdrawn the whole amount ( £5,300) but then I would have been overdrawn by £5,300 when the bloody thing was stopped a couple of days later!

I don't really understand how a cheque can clear and then be taken back a few days later?? As far as I see, it the bank clear it, then it's their fault if it then turns out to be dodgy!
