Hi! My name is Rachel and i'm 17. I have just passed my text, and taking my pass plus test. I am looking for a car, not much more than £1500, and definatly no more than £2000. I would ideally like a 5 door, and CD player, although the CD player is not essential as i can get one put in. Does any one have any help? I dont care how old the car is, as long as its in resonable condition! I have no idea about cars, and feel totally lost! please help!!
my email address is Rach991991@hotmail.com

Hi Rachel,
My first car was an old mini- great fun to drive and cheap! I was put onto my parents insurance for the first year as the cost for your own was ridiculous.
As you have just passed your test I would go with a car that has a small engine- car insurance is crippling for new drivers. I wouldn't bother looking at GTI's or Turbo's. Ask how economical it is on fuel as petrol seems to go nowhere!
I wouldn't worry about the age of it as most people don't keep their first cars for more than a few years unless it is in very good condition.I do recommend joining the AA as they will come out and check that everything with the car is ok and there are no hidden surprises.
You would probably be better putting a CD Player in it yourself as this is when the price is boosted up.
Best place to look for something like you have described is to get your parents to sign up to ebay. You can find some great deals, view before you buy, or if you have bid on the item and not had a chance to view it before bidding has closed, if it is not in the condition described you don't have to take it. Generally though if you go to have a look before the bidding has ended and offer them cash on the spot they will generally take it.
Good Luck with finding a car!

When you have found a car you must get it checked out. You can get the AA to come and look at the car and they will tell you if there are any problems with it.
Also, you should check the history of the car to make sure it is not a stolen vehicle. You can do this online. Try http://www.safechoice.co.uk/. It is definately worth the expense!
Good luck!
