I have been running a classified site for a while now, so I though I would share my experience of the scammers emails.
- Most scammers use easily obtainable email addresses such as @hotmail.com and @yahoo.com.
- Often mention a shipper or overseas delivery of some sort.
- Bad spelling and grammar
- Asking the minimum offer price without seeing the car
- Commas with spaces either side of them - seems to happen a lot!
- Their name is sometimes in CAPITALS
- Some of these scammers have started to use a standard format for an email such as this one:
my name's kully i saw your advert placement on the internet of your car ( fiat.) which am intrested in purchasing . i will like you to answer the following question before we can talk on the payment .
1)why do you want to sell it?
2)for how long have you been using it?
3)is it faulty or what?
4)and i will like to have the recent pics of it question.
5)and your least price offer please get back to me asap. thanks my regards wishing you best regard
As you can see the scammer mentions payment, but also does actually ask some legitimate questions.
If i think of anything else i have seen i will post here.
