smoking brakes help

hi,ive recently aquired a 1980 mgb gt. if i drive it for longer than about an hour the brake pedal just goes straight to the floor and needs pumping to make it work also im getting smoke from one side at the front.the caliper isnt siezed and for the first hour they work fine! any ideas matt

It sounds like a seized caliper to me,have you checked it when its hot?.
You could also try changing the brake fluid.

Check pistons in calliper are free ,check pads are free to move ,also check front wheel bearings. Possibly master cyl. faulty.
