Looking to buy a used automatic

Hello all, I need some advice on what to look for when I search for a used automatic. I want something that is under 1000, in good condition, and no bigger than a 1.6. It really need to have a good few months MOT and FSH. Any other things I should be looking for? Any suggestions of any cars that are value for money? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!
