Comprehensive coverage does what it says, providing calm no matter your troubles. Whether or not you are at fault, your car is protected against damage, fire, and theft. So your attention can be focused on more pressing matters. Peace of mind costs a bit more upfront, but can save you a bundle on the long road. Most companies require this level of coverage if your car is worth more than a set limit.Third party fire and theft gives you security if your car is stolen or is damaged by fire, but doesn't protect your car if you cause an accident.

There's a great article over at money saving expert showing how to get 120 quotes from using comparison sites, it says you can get quotes from 100% of the market using it - i thought it was a really useful read

The comparison sites are very good but if you have accidents and convictions they dont seem to be so good, I found by ringing around and speaking to a broker you get a better deal.
Just done mine with Right Choice Insurance Brokers (0845 555 0666), got a great deal and also feel more comfortable having spoken to them rather than pressed a few buttons.

Could you possibly post some of those sites because searching car insurance quotes online (http://www.csun.edu/~cdg15757/money-finance-insurance/car-insurance-quotes-online.html) was a pretty tough business for me and I can't say that I got some information out of it. So just post one or two sites where I can take look. Thank you very much in advance.

This year I found that I saved quite a bit of money by phoning up a broker rather than just looking at what they offered online. In fact, the prices offered by the broker online were initially quite high but the deal they offered me on the phone was the best I came across.

Hope this helps :)

In relation to your above link, which is indeed useful, I found this interesting and absorbing article on insurance companies (for both third party and third party fire and theft.) It is incredibly important at the moment (given our horrific economic climate) to differentiate for the cheapest providers, and this article helps:

To the 17 year old, you really need to see a broker to get a good rate on a car at your age, intenet sites aren't very good for getting the best quote for a high risk driver, which you are unfortunately, being a) male and b) 17.

Adrian Flux are very good for high risk drivers.

And now, just to blow my own horn, we do some of the cheapest company car insurance out there, at just-coversure-insurance.co.uk/company-car-insurance.html

Would you happen to know anything on Good cheap Van insurance?

Normally I don't think you can go wrong with GoCompare but for young drivers try Quinn. That's who I used in my younger days and they always offered me a good deal.

With regards to the van insurance question, try The Van Insurer (.co.uk) - my friends who own vans all swear by this website as apparently it's an independent specialist and so can offer the best deals. Also guarantees to beat any quote so you can't loose!

Talking of expensive insurance though - I just enquired about a policy for an imported motorbike - wow that's expensive! Anyone else had similar issues?

There are vast differences in the rates that insurance companies charge for the coverage that you need. You will see this immediately when you start shopping online for discount car insurance. Many people think that all insurance policies and costs are the same, but they are mistaken.

There are many ways in which you can save money on your next policy - some of these have to do with the insurance companies themselves, but there are things that you can do as well to lower your car insurance costs.

I have always found a great deal with the insurance comparison sites, but I would point out that it is usually worth going to two or three of these sites because they do tend to compare different insurers.

Alrite people.

Today i went to a car auction bought my first car.:)
Its a Renault Clio Sport 1.4.Got it at a really good price it runs perfect.

So i have been on many car insurance websites and the cheapest quote i could get was 1800 with 300pound deposit, is that a good price?.I thought it might be that expensive because it was a 1.4 sport but i tried getting a quote for a Nissan micra 993cc and it came to 1700 is this because this is my first car?.

I was wondering if there are any tips you guys could give me.Im like two month away from turning 21 would that make it a noticeable bit cheaper?.

Also i tried putting my mom as the main driver and the cheapest quote was 7grand.WTF?

Thanks peeps.

The first major drawback of getting quotes from online insurance companies is that you have to provide a lot of personal information just to get a quote. This includes email, address, phone numbers, and social security number, plus details about mileage, children, whether you own or rent, and your income. To get five quotes, you have to reveal this information over and over. Yes, you do have to be willing to provide some of this information to all insurance companies, but the online companies require much more initially than the agents do. And it is more likely that an agent working for a reputable company can be trusted with your information. You have their name, after all.

If you are getting quotes from companies you have never heard of, you run the risk of giving this very important information to an information harvester or people who are not who they say they are. If you are using reputable companies, you will still get a lot of contact from them, by phone, email, and mail, sometimes even years later. Do you really want to be on all those mailing lists?

Making these requests online can actually be time-consuming. It can take twenty minutes to go through all the forms to get a quote from each company. An agent is not going to keep you on the phone that long, they know they need to get the quote to you quickly.

The next drawback occurs once you are at the point to negotiate prices. It is far easier to have a productive discussion with an agent than with a telephone customer service person. In leveraging rates, having quotes from other actual agents will give you more power to get lower rates. Talking to agents who have a vested interest in getting new clients, especially if they own their own franchise, will get you much better attention and customer service. They are also going to be more responsive when you call with questions, want to modify your policy, or need help with an accident or claim.

Online companies also offer insurance policies that fit most people. They use online forms that lump aspects together. This may or may not work for you. Do you want a policy truly geared to your needs, or one that is kind of close? And what happens when life changes and you need to tailor your policy in ways they do not cover?

igetuquote.co.uk
This website will personally find you a quote which is guaranteed to be cheaper than your original price you are being quoted so far. I was getting quoted £3500 for my 17 year old sons insurance, but after seeing this site on a FaceBook Ad, i filled out the form on the site and he got back to me within 2 working days with a price i could not believe. I saved £1300 as soon as i saw the quote with my own eyes! I took out the insurance quote which he got for me, and now my son is driving on the road as we speak. All these compare websites, they never get you a cheap price, the prices are still ridiculously high and there is no 'business' or 'search engine' who can find you a price. The owner of this site actually searches himself to find a quote for young drivers, and 6 of my friends have also found a car insurance quote through him too.
I recommend to check this site out now as you are more than likely to have your son on the road almost instantly after he emails you back with the details.

The site is called igetuquote.co.uk

I hope you have as much luck as i did.

The similarity sites are very good quality but if you have accidents and confidence they don’t seem to be so good quality, I create by ringing around and talking to a broker you get a better deal.

For cheap car insurance to qualify as "cheap" in the UK depends on what the explanation of cheap means to the person buying or paying for the car insurance. The price may also vary because of the make and model of the car or if it's from another country. If you want to get cheap car insurance so you may call an insurance agent. You can look online or in your local phone book.
