I tow a compass corona 525 (total 1470kg) with a kia sportage, which is not
a bad tow car but I would like to get a better one. The ones I've been
looking at are:- Nissan x-trail, kia Sedona 2.9, Hyundai Santa fe 2.7 and a
Mitsubishi shogun sport 2.5. Has anyone had any of these tow cars or has
anyone any ideas for a good one. The only trouble I have with my sportage
is on an uphill stretch so one with a bit more power.
Any help?

For what its worth I have Nissan X-Trail 2.2DCi Sport. It is only two and a
half months old but so far I have towed about 1200 miles with it. My van is
a Sterling Eccles Topaz weighing in at 1325 kgs. Economy is not as good as
my previous Xantia but towing it achieves somewhere between 25 and 29 mpg.
Solo on a very long run (over 300 miles) I managed a fraction under 40mpg.
It has a responsive and powerful engine which is a delight to drive and it
will tow happily in 6th gear.
