Hi all,

I'm pretty okay at household/automotive diy, and was considering taking on a
cheap caravan that needs a bit of tlc.

From reading some of these NG posts, its seems damp is the curse of caravans
( a bit like rust once was for cars ).

As an example, I've just spotted this on ebay :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2486264166&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
( don't worry, I'm not going to jump in feet first and buy it !...The wife
'd kill me ! )

Now this van could be just right for me. I've got 3 kids so the bunks are
needed. Plus its got the hot water & shower. ( no mention of
heating...although I don't know whether thats a big deal or not )

If I can find the space & the time to strip it out, is it within the bounds
of possibility to be able to bring this van back to life ?

- Can the interior wall & roof panelling materials be bought in sheet form
and trimmed to shape?
- If the cooker/fridge was stripped away, can the floor be replaced in
sections or is it all one piece like a car floorplan. ?

Since I'm a newbie, I don't know in finite detail how caravans are
constructed. So its hard for me to tell whether the above caravan would be a
good buy or just a sodding moneypit.

Honest & constructive opinions please..........

Looks like a good starter 'van to me!

But I'd suggest viewing any potential purchase.
