ford escort mk5 16i 16v running problems

hello there,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my probs.
my escort has a rough idle and when I fill the tank it starts to misfire really badly even when moving and now and again it cuts out when I stop or dip the clutch but as soon it goes down to 3/4 full the misfire stops but the thing still idle like a bag of sh***. Ive been looking for the problem for weeks and I'm at the end of my rope with this thing.
any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need to put it on the computer to get it checked but you sound like you have been having a problem i had, when i had my escort.

It sounds like the idol speed control valve they are about 50 quid from a aftermarket dealer (depending on where you are in the contry of course), ford will charge you a fortune!
