Personally I would try to get the insurance taken care of before hand! You are driving your car uninsured so any accidents are not covered. If god forbid something did happen who would cover the costs?
Take a look @ our insurance page http://www.usedcarmart.co.uk/insurance you should get a good deal

Here's a site that I think will answer your question - allaboutautoinsurance.com It's the site I found when I had a question that was pretty close to yours.

You will need insurance to drive the car, even to drive it home form the sellers location. If you looking for cheap car insurance try http://www.swiftcover.com or http://www.moneysupermaret.com
Jay.
I heard norich union were doing short periods of insurance for people in similiar situation to you. For a small price they will insure the car for around 4 days or something, to allow you to move it without fully insuring it.
If you're going to be using the car continuously mind, its probably better to get fully insured.
Drive safe :)

having worked with such websites as www.yourmotorinsurance.co.uk and www.womenonwheels.co.uk, i have found that short term insurance can be more expensive in the long run, and also means that you'll fail to build no claims bonus.
