View Full Version : Brake Cylinder Sleeving?

Anyone know where I might be able to get a couple of master cylinders
sleeved? Or how much it generally costs?
Trying to sort one out for a Minor, seems all the spare ones are bad at the
end. New, or I presume recon, are around 50 quid which is fine, but if
sleeving is cheaper that seems a better option as there'd be a nice non
corroding stainless bore that should last a very long time.

I very much doubt that sleeving will be less than 50 quid, at least not for
a decent job.
Sleeving is normally last resort - not first !...

I paid $nz 425 for a sleeved master cylinder and carried it halfway round
the world, an d I recon that was cheap. If you can get them for £50 go for
it.

Not everything cheap turns out to be a bargain in the long run though....

I had an Austin A35 master cylinder sleeved about 13 years ago, cost back
then was £65. Can't rememebr who did the work, but it was a nice job, not
economical witrh something which can be replaced for £50 though.
Cheers,
Bill.

MGM spares list them at £55, Charles Ware at £75.

Yep, seen a couple of other places too that have them around the 50 quid
mark. Wouldn't mind getting a deal on a complete set, as I'm not sure about
the front slaves, and the rear slaves are missing anyway. Plus the guy
who'll actually be driving it seems to have this strange fixation with
working brakes... ;)

Fair point. I had my eye on a couple of m/c on Ebay last night, plus I'm
sure in the sheds with the Minors there's bound to be a few more, wondered
if it would be cost effective to send a batch off to be done (there's 3
Minors to get back on the road). Guess not though!
