I have a 1996 "N" Reg 1.4 Golf that stalls after I have been driving for about 10 mins & I put the clutch down to slow down or change gear, the car starts again but then will continue to do this for the rest of the journey, I have had the car looked at by Nationwide Garage who have uped the timing as this at idle rest was down to 4 rev's it now sits at 6 & they put in a new Coolant Temperature Sensor & advised that the idle speed control had a fault that needed assesing but this has not been done. They did advised that if adjusting the rev's did not sort the problem out then it could potentially cost about £300 for the part. Can you offer any advise as to what the problem may be or what may need looking at.
