The Kadett is simply the name they used for that segment. It runs from A-E,
I think - Kadett B is contemporary to the Viva HB, but not much is shared.
The Kadette C is contemporary to the Chevette (the T-body, GM's first
'World' car), the D is the FWD Astra Mk I, E is FWD Astra Mk II, and after
that I think they started calling it the Opel Astra. Maybe there is a Kadett
F.

There is a fair chance that the Kadett B shared a lot of parts with the C
and therefore the Chevette, and it's also quite possible that the HC Viva
has a fair bit in common since it also shares a lot of bits with the
Chevette.

One thing is sure - the Kadett B is going to have very little in common with
the Astra ;)

Oh dear, how very complex! So basically any of the other cars you mentioned
could have all/some/none of the same parts as my car. I think, as someone
else said further down the thread, my best bet is going to be the Chevette.
Back to the drawing board then, but thanks for the explanation.
