I recently bought a 1999 VW golf 1.4. After a couple of weeks i noticed that occassionally the exhaust emits clouds of whiteish smoke.
The longer i drive the worse it gets, but tends to mostly do this when i have slowed right down at say a give way sign then as i am pulling away there is a big cloud of smoke. After a while there is also a burning smell.
I have rently put it in the garage as i thought the coolant could be leaking into the exhaust, but the coolant level is spot on, does anyone have any ideas??
