I'm trying to find the prices of certain goods in the 1950s. How much
was a brand-new Ford Popular in the early 50s?

Ford Popular from 1953 was a 103E, not a 100E.
The 100E from 1953 was the Anglia/Prefect monocoque.

A 100E during this period was £360 and £395.

If you mean the sit up and beg Pop, it didn't come out until after the
new Prefect etc - IIRC about '55. And must have been the most out of date
new car ever...

It was still in production when the Mini arrived, and cost about the same.

In 1953 the new Prefect 100e was launched followed shortly by the Anglia
100e.
Then the 1940's Anglia E04a was fettled and relaunched as the Popular 103e
which remained in production until mid 1959.
Then, the 100e Anglia was discontinued and again fettled and relauched as
the Popular 100e (1959).
Then of course in 1959 we saw the launch of the 105e Anglia.
The Prefect 100e was redone in 1959 and relaunched with the Anglia 105e's
ohv engine.
The Prefect 107e and Popular 100e remained in production until 1962.
The Prefect 107e was replaced by the Consul Classic and the Popular
eventually replaced by the 1200cc Anglia 123e.
