Good as sold. Bloke I know had a cambelt go on his 1.8 Cavalier, and tried
flogging it to him, but he was quite keen to keep his Cavalier going and get
another lump to put in it, but I lent it to him so he could get to work
(helped him out, and it helped me out as it had someone looking after it and
using it rather than just sitting there). Spoke to him a week or so later
and he said there's someone very interested in it, and the bloke was going
to buy it when he got back from his holiday. Then someone else was very
keen and started offering more than the other bloke (only by £10 though!),
and he phoned the bloke on his holiday who he'd good as done the deal with,
and the bloke was all ready to come back from his holiday to buy it then and
there. He told him not to be silly and that the van was his. Was going to
buy it late last week but payment for a job he'd done hadn't come through
yet, so I'm waiting, but it sounds like he's not going to let me down, and
as long as he pays the £400 I'm asking then I'm happy with that.

Yep, so it's sold.

Righto, here goes:

8 Months' MOT (will double check exact date but I had it MOTd back in March
some time) - went straight through MOT bar a couple of sidelight bulbs.

No tax (expired end of July), but can tax at buyer's expense.

All good tyres (4-5mm tread)

Starts first flick of the key, very reliable.

82,000 miles.

Recent oil and filter change, and new front brake pads.

Recent cambelt change, done by SEAT main dealer (have receipt for just under
£200 for this).

Excellent runner, and very reliable. Very good mechanical condition, with
very smooth gear changes and an engine that pulls along well and doesn't
smoke a bit.

1.9 SDI normally aspirated diesel engine, which regularly returned 50-55mpg
taking it in and out of London every day.

All VW mechanicals, basically a VW Caddy van with a different badge.

Ply lined inside, and bodywork in very clean condition with no dents or
scratches.

THE BAD BITS:

The log book will need applying for (long story, but I can assure you it's
genuine - I have a receipt from the previous owner, and the green bit of the
log book), which will cost £19. I meant to do it as soon as I bought the
van (and have the form already filled out, together with a cheque made out
to the DVLA, but due to my sheer laziness, never got around to sending it!).

When re-fitting the driver's side front wheel after putting new front pads
in it I somehow managed to snap one of the wheel bolts. This would be very
easy to sort out for someone with the right type of drill bit to drill it
out as the bit of bolt left in there will easily drop out the other side of
the disc.

Other than that it's in great condition, and runs very well, starts very
well (aboslutely first flick of the key) and has been 100% reliable in the
time I've had it (I've done about 6000 miles in it with no problems).

Van is located in Berkshire. Sensible offers invited around £2300. Last
time I checked vans of this age and mileage were being advertised on
Autotrader around the £3-3.5k ballpark, so grab a bargain. If I don't get
any interest it'll go on ebay in the next few days.

Cheers,

Peter
