Hi,

Wondered if anybody could advise me on what too buy. I have a budget of between 4 and 5k. I really like V.W golfs Gti and Tdi, and Passats. The Audi A3 and A4. And finally the BMW compact. The reason i like these cars however is down to there looks! i have no idea how any of them drive like etc! I have no idea about cars in general and would appreciate any help or guidance you can offer. With this budget in mind which car/model would you choose?
Thanks in advance!!

Hi Grizworld,

First of all, all of these cars are great German engineering which makes them very popular. Value is good and when you decide to sell again shouldn’t take long!
The Golf will be good choice GTi and TDi the economical one is of course the TDi which is a diesel and I would not go for Golf 4 GTi as they haven’t been as popular as the new and the previous models. The Golf you should go for is the TDi from 130 bhp to 150 bhp or V5 and V6.

The VW Passat would get the same rate as the Golf, only the size of the car is what makes a difference. That is your choice if you need a bigger car. And there is one more alternative the VW Bora it is just between the Golf and Passat.

Or the Rare Golf

The BMW compact is a great, very nippy car. They seem to me as if they keep up value better then its brothers (saloon) etc.
But be careful they are rear wheel drive RWD. So depends were you live because winter could get rough, not to forget they use more petrol compared to VW. Never mind because they all should be and they are reliable cars.

i got a passat tdi 130 estate with full sports pack & 6speed g/box it's great no problems as yet very nippy when u consider that the computer is stating 63mpg on a run. i love it and will be getting another one exactly the same with a lower mileage when mine goes over 90k
