Thanks for your reply...pls keep me updated!
I went out and got another car on hp so i am not hurrying the issue, It is a shame as she is just sat out there slowing rusting away.....and a bloody good car to drive lol. Honda wouldn't tell me, would have to pay £68 to hook it uo to there computer....Even though i have the print out with the error code on, I am beginnig to hope that it might only be something quite simple and Cheap to rectify..... Good luck with the EGR Valve, Someone suggested to me that it could be the fuel filter?? |

Cracked it,got 2 fault codes P0238 which is the turbo boost pressure a - high
and P1236 fuel pump control out of range so i took out the boost pressure sensor gave it a clean and so far all is well. The sensor is very easy to get to and is located just left of the egr valve hope this helps! ![]() |

Had the same problem when i bought my 1.7 diesel, took it back to the place where i bought it from as the car was still under warranty, and they spoke to Honda, who said that there was a faulty batch of turbos and mine was one of them, so they took it to the nearest honda garage and got it change and not had a problem since. And it sounds very much like you could also have one of the faulty turbos, well worth a look into if its not going to cost you anything to get it fixed.

Hi, 3 problems spring to mind with this fault... turbo fault prone if the car is not driven as it suposed to be eg not revved above 3k the turbo vanes get sooted up.....turbo requires replacing...the valve for the turbo (above the o/s drive shaft there are two valves one (( i think is for the egr)) the other is for the turbo, these corrode inside causing the casing to crack thus creates a leak in the vacume side.
Codes would be helpfull...... |

Also ive had two casses where the fuel filter was fitted the wrong way round the blead screw should be facing the windsreen not the radiator.. the other problem i have had is the air flow meter again this depends on the fault codes...

I've got a 54 plate 1.7 diesel civic UK that yesterday suffered a major bout
of power loss,It wouldn't accelerate over 2500 rpms and i couldn't hear the turbo kick in,I've took it today to my local honda main dealer who told me if i restarted the car more than 3 times it will have cleared the computers memory of recorded faults??? and thus theres nothing they can do? is this true on this model? It sounds like a turbo fault to me but unless the computer records a fault theres nothing they can do about it.Anyone heard of this? I thought the computer recorded fault codes indefinately until they hooked up the fault code reader and reset them? |
