Doing a comparison is one thing but doesn't anyone have any tips to getting the cost of the insurance down?? Sure the first price we are quoted can usually be improved but are there any loopholes that will help reduce the cost. I know for example your job title can effect the amount quite a lot and being a little descriptive when stating your occupation can help.......

There aren't any "tricks" to reduce your insurance premium unfortunately, as you have to provide correct information, which by it's very nature you can't change. However, although the internet is a good place initially to get quotes, using a broker can help, as they know which companies do what. As an example, they may be able to negotiate an introductory bonus with some companies, or "mirror" your NCD, and some offer price matches specifically to compete with internet companies.

One thing most people aren't aware of is, if you add your spouse as a named driver, (provided she has less points than you etc.) then it's usually free, and sometimes even brings your premium down, as women are considered less of a risk than men.
