As the title suggests, I'm still looking for an 'interesting' car - any
    (more) offers?

Guy I know's got an X1/9. Don't know if it's for sale - he was planning to
restore it and keep it for himself, take it to shows etc., but I don't know
if he's (a) still got it, and/or (b) given up on that idea. Could possibly
find out if it could be what you're after. Where abouts in the country are
    you?

My "interesting" car is a super light hatchback with £1500 worth
    of modifications under the bonnet.
That makes it an "interesting" drive.

Of course ... you might be after an "interesting" posers car .... something
you could drive slowly along southend seafront and get noticed in.

Or someone elses "interesting" car might have £5000 worth of audio
    equipment.

What sort of interesting do you want????

    Have you tried here?

    http://www.findit.co.uk/cars/kitcar/cars.htm

IMHO cars don't come much more "interesting" than some of those. Some
of them are even vaguely practical ;o)

I'm in Southsea, Portsmouth. Trouble is that X1/9s are girl's cars. I'm a
    6'2" bloke!

    SouthSEA seafront, please!

I'm after a car that isn't necessarily fast, just a model that might have
been privately imported here before the laws became too strict - something
LHD maybe or something odd - a matra, dacia or something - as long as it is
relatively cheap and I can get it mot'd without too much work.

A mate of mine bought a armoured scout car (ferret) but I really don't want
to cruise at 35mph at 7mpg whilst steering with a 'wrong way' steering
wheel, changing gear with a preselector gearbox looking through a hole 12" x
    6" and wearing ear defenders!

He says not having to have an MOT or pay tax is good though!

AFAIR the drivers seat in a Daimler Ferret, should have a high
    and low setting.
The high setting enables the driver to see over the front and
    sides.
    An interesting vehicle though.
Not many are capable of going as fast in reverse as forwards.
Wrong way steering? The driving position was angled to make it
easier to see behind when reversing at speed. Otherwise it was
    quite conventional.

The turret seat does this - not the drivers seat.

    Oh yes!

OK then, the steering wheel is unconventionally angled, and if you are
reversing quick you'll need the reversing metal hatches open, the passenger
out of the way and to have practiced loads!
