| What things have gone wrong with the car? |
The fuse for the stereo and door locks blows four times a year. New (30amp) fuses are 15p. I can live with that...
The speedo cable has broken on a number of occasions, but I've found it can be mended easily with a bicycle cable, and the AA man can remedy this problem for free.
I broke the back end axle by jumping humpback bridges. Since I've stopped doing that it's worked fantastically.
Engine mounting blocks need checking. |
| General comments: |
It's incredibly economical, reliable and garages charge very little to mend it. Handles fatastically round the sharp bends of Snake Pass and holds the road well.
Acceleration needs patience and good sense on your part.
No power steering.
You can fit anything up to the size of a washing machine in the back.
I've done about 80,000 miles in it and it still starts and runs beautifully, despite rattling like a bus.
If you're looking for a good, economical and reliable car then this is for you. Watch out for oil levels and avoid the 1400 diesel at all costs. |
