| General comments: |
If you've thought and thought about one, for pete's sake get off your butt! They come up for sale online regularly, and the support from the Checker Club and Joe Pollard of checkerparts dot com, is superb. Nearly everything is available used and newly made and there's even some N.O.S. out there. Rebuild an American car that still makes people smile, wave and start conversations at red lights. There's not much to compare, they ride like a limo in back, and a pickup up front, but there's little driver fatigue, even after an 8 hour drive in Florida sunshine. And you'll get the joy of driving your insurance agent temporarily crazy trying to find the vehicle code to write the policy. (sorry if you're in insurance, but if they still list LASALLE....) And if you find a propane job, as I did, there are NO COMPUTER worries EVER, as the LP models had none to start with. |
