| General comments: |
Aerodynamic (0.32), 3 seater wedge-shaped, mid-engined and almost 50/50 weight distribution with 1050 kg minimum weight (1350 max), non metal body (and the rest is zinc plated - built before Renault Espace, but same technique), good boot, relatively small fuel tank inside engine compartment (50l?), broader rear and tyres than front end (185 & 195 on 2.2 model - Pirelli P6 were standard). 1.6l relatively underpowered (98 BHP? I remember burning the clutch out after 10,000 km on my first one) 2.2l (118 BHP standard model) would go very fast, 2.2S or adapted 142 BHP model flies!
Earlier models now qualify as classic car in some countries, but 1983/4 later models - like mine - in 3-4 years time when 25 years old. Middle seat folds down into a large arm rest in the middle otherwise it is the narrower of the three seats, but not uncomfortable for short journeys. Plenty of leg room, with an adjustable foot rest. Ventilation less than comfortable in hot weather due to incoming air from under rear edge of the bonnet. Not as bad with a sunroof. Some mechanical items more difficult to find now, but most are standard parts bin Peugeot Citroen (PSA). Very little on the car rusts or deteriorates from weather-related wear and tear. |
