What things have gone wrong with the car? Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with this car. It was recalled by the manufacturer to have a known potential mechanical problem fixed, which was done quickly and efficiently by the dealer (Seaward of Branksome, Dorset) free of charge.
General comments: I have been extremely pleased with this car. It was bought to replace a much loved and highly reliable and economical 1987 Fiat Panda 100CL. The only disaopointment has been that the nippy 1 litre injection Matz engine seems to be not quite as economical as my old 1 litre carbureter Fiat Panda. I could have bought a Matiz with a smaller 3 cylinder engine that would have been more economicle, but compared to the 4 clinder 1 liter model it is underpowered (even with only 2 up) and sounds like a motorbike when you open it up, which you have to do a lot to keep it in the narrow power band. So sacrificed a bit of economy for performance, and having taken 4 people to Bristol in the car I'm very glad I did. And of course in the summer I miss the fold back roof I had on the Panda. So my suggestion to Chevrolet, who have now applied their own brand to the Matiz, would be to bing out a version that the roof can be removed. One of the reasons I chose the Matiz was it's styling. Now that Chevrolet have taken over the Deawoo brand and changed the styling (for the worse in my opinion) I would think twice about buying a new Matiz. However my main criteria for buying this car was price, and low running costs so as long the Chevrolet Matiz holds these values I would certainly take a test drive.
