| What things have gone wrong with the car? |
I have had two of these cars over the years, both the 1991 I owned for 6 years and the 1992 model I bought when I sold the 91 I still own...both are amazing vehicles with absolutely no mechanical issues. |
| General comments: |
Probably the best value for money 4x4 of its class in australia without doubt, strong and reliable. Typical diesel in the lower range speeds when taking off as this is no sports car but be warned it holds its own offroad and on the highway. General day to day driving of the Mu has proven to be a delight as the vehicle simply never gives up the go. The Mu has never cost me more than a regular service and even that hasnt been excessive as the major percentage of its parts are basicly Holden Rodeo parts/filters etc - ( same motor in mu and rodeo). I absolutely 100% guarentee the Isuzu Mu is the best damn vehicle I have ever owned. The interior of these vehicles is excellent. Beyond doubt they are hard wearing, clean and modern even by todays standards, stylish velour seats, clean curves, solid trims and gadgets. The entire vehicle is solid as a rock, little things that pleased me were things like the doors, when you close your door you can feel the quality solid structure unlike aussie 4x4's that have that tin light echo sound that just screams danger in an accident. The Mu has been rated as a very safe 4x4, it has safety bars welded into the inner shell of the vehicle that help drivers avoid serious issue in most accidents from front, side or rear collisions to complete upside down skids.
They are quiet, sturdy, well handling units with all the mod cons of a 2000plus series vehicle. I often wonder why people waste their money on varies other medium/small sized 4x4's when the Mu is penny for pound a far better choice. I've had the please of driving a 92 Mu with an intercooler fitted, the difference was very noticable and definately worth the money spent to install it. The Mu family of models have a great many bolt on mods and accessories made available to them via the internet and various 4x4 suppliers, that in the end allow you to dress your MU up in ways you never dreamed of for a low amount of cash outlay.
Having driven and owned many 4x4's over the past 30 years Id have to say the MU is a two thumbs up little beauty .. so i guess it's no wonder certain un-named car companies that Ive worked for over the years hate the MU as a competitor in general.
